Appearing on search engines as faster as possible is the goal of every new website.

However, new sites are unknown and search engines like Google must be careful because they don’t want to index sites that share spam and things like that.

In fact, there are more than 100,000 new websites each day. Now, imagine what a mess there would be if Google crawls those sites immediately, and index them.

In this blog post, I’ll show you 10 different ways that you can use in order to submit your website to search engines faster.

I’ll also show you how to submit a Googlebot manually to your site, or how to check if your website is slow, so you can improve it.

Let’s start!

#1 Submit URL To Google

When don’t know when Google made this possible, but it’s possible. Simply said, just enter submit url to google in Google search and you’ll see a small form where you can enter an URL of your new page.

Submit URL To Google This will surely help you to appear in Google faster, but there are other methods and ways that you should consider, so let’s learn something about them.

#2 Send Crawler From Google Search Console

Google Search Console is not good only for checking search traffic analytics and an average number of impressions your site appeared. It’s also good for sending a crawler manually and here’s how to do it. In the menu, click on Crawl - Fetch as Google.

Fetch as Google

Next, you need to enter the URL you’d like to send to the index.

So, in the text field copy the URL and click on FETCH.

Fetch as Google List

After you do it, here’s what you’ll see.

In other words, you need to click on Submit to index, but the most beautiful part is that you can either crawl only ONE (specific) URL or you can crawl that URL and its direct link. Choose Submit Method

Keep in mind that the second option is available only 10 times in a month.

In my experience, your site page will appear very fast in Google search results, but it might disappear again for a while if your site doesn’t have enough backlinks.

That’s it. That’s how you send a Google crawler manually.

#3 Build First Backlinks

Although Google is smarter today than ten years ago, backlinks are still one of the most important Google ranking factors.

Previously, Google will skyrocket crawling your sites. When we talk about backlinks, think about them as a vote from website A to website B.

Total External Backlinks

If you take a look at the photo above, you’ll see how results on the first Google search results page have more backlinks than those who are ranked lower.

In other words, backlinks will not help you only for getting indexed, it will help you for achieving great rankings.

Here are some ideas how you can build backlinks.

Build a Free Tool

I always like to show an example from HubSpot who created a Website Grader.

If take a look at the following photo, you’ll see how their tool got 348K backlinks from 12.1K referring domains.

HubSpot Grader - Ahrefs Data

Incredible, isn’t it? Well yes, and this would definitely skyrocket submitting your website to search engines.

Create an Infographic

Kissmetrics has created a total of 47 infographics which generated 41,142 backlinks from 3,741 referring domains.

Infographics experience from Kissmetrics

However, you should know that publishing isn’t enough because you need to promote infographics.

For example, email marketing is one of the best ways to do it.

Give a Testimonial

Are there any tools you use every month? There should be because professionals usually use a few tools.

Take a look at the following photo and you’ll see that testimonials can drive you lots of visitors and backlinks.

BuzzSumo Testimonials

Have you ever been thinking about it? Probably not, but try this.

Keep in mind that getting testimonials on top industry sites might be difficult to you, but there are small businesses who will be happy to get a new testimonial in an exchange for a backlink.

#4 Add a Sitemap

Adding a sitemap is easy once you set up Google Search Console account. In the menu, click on Crawl - Sitemaps.

Search Console Sitemap

Next, you have to enter a sitemap file name and that’s usually sitemap.xml

Enter sitemap URL

If you don’t know how to create a sitemap, and you don’t have coding skills, you can install free WordPress plugins that will handle this for you.

One of the most popular WordPress plugins is Google XML Sitemaps.

Google XML Sitemaps

After you successfully install the plugin, just click on Settings - XML-Sitemap.

XML Sitemaps Menu There, you’ll see that the sitemap has added. As I said, a sitemrrap is usually sitemap.xml file. Sitemap URL What’s cool about this plugin is that it will notify Google and Bing, so they can crawl your sitemap and follow instructions. For example, you can say that you update your posts every day, so Google will know it, but it doesn’t mean Googlebot will visit your site every day because it’s just an instruction.

#5 Use Google My Business

I know that you have seen something like this.

That’s what we call Google My Business, and your company is able to have it too with a couple of clicks.

Adding your company is very simple. You only have to enter information about your business and verify your data.

Enter business details

As for the verification, the most common way to verify your business is by postcard which means you need to be careful when providing your street address. It can take to one to two weeks for the postcard to arrive.

If you change in the meanwhile your street address, you’ll need to request a new code which means you will need to wait for additional one or two weeks.

Some business will have an option to verify by the phone which will much faster way since you can do it immediately. Keep in mind that this will create a Google+ profile for you which is also good.

#6 Upload a YouTube Video

YouTube is a second largest search engine in the world. Google is, of course, the first one.

According to the photo below, an average uploaded on YouTube will lead to lots of views.

YouTube Video Stats

In other words, uploading a video on YouTube and writing website URL in a video description will lead to new visitors and shares on social networks.

Furthermore, your site will be easier accessible to robots like Googlebot. In the end of the day, your site will be indexed on Google. Next, Google tends to embed YouTube videos in their search results.

Here’s how it looks like.

How to make an American pie

The reason of this is because YouTube has a strong DA - 97/100.

YouTube Moz Metrics

Only a few domains in the world have such a great benchmarks. If you’re wondering which types of videos Google tends to embed, here’s which:

  • How-to videos
  • Review videos
  • Tutorial videos

So, create YouTube videos and increase the traffic of your site today!

#7 Create Social Media Profiles

According to lots of researches, there’s a positive correlation between Facebook total count (e.g.) and ranking on search engines.

Simply said, social media profiles will not only help you in ranking higher, it will also help you in getting indexed faster.

Moz Correlation Study Social

For example, Matt Cutts confirmed seven years ago that Google uses the social signal as a ranking factor.

Even if that’s not true, imagine what would happen if your site receives lots of new visitors from social media.

I’m sure that top quality content would be linked because one small percentage are bloggers and site owners.

In fact, you don’t need to do email outreach and beg someone for links. You only need to write great content and links will come without asking anyone.

What's more, you’ll get a link on social media networks just like we did.

Facebook Jellymetrics

I know the link above is nofollow and it doesn’t pass any link juice, but I think that getting a nofollow link is better than nothing.

#8 Check Robots.txt

The purpose of robots.txt is to avoid crawling specific parts of your website. That can be administration part because you have no interests in crawling that, or some parts reserved only for members of your site.

The problem that may happen is that you restrict access to crawlers to those pages that you actually want to be accessed.

Checking if your site is accessible due to Robots.txt restrictions is available in Google Search Console. Firstly, click on Crawl - robots.txt, and enter which URL you want to test.

Here, I entered wp-admin and it says URL is blocked which is fine.

Robots.txt Tester: Blocked

Now, just open Google Search Console and enter one URL so you can be sure that Robots.txt don’t make any problems.

#9 Make Website Faster

Users love fast websites, and when users something love, Google loves that too. They are not interested in delivering slow sites to their users.

Here, I want to show you how to check if your site is faster. One of the most popular tools are Pingdom and Google PageSpeed Insights.

Pingdom

Your first step is to open Pingdom and enter your URL. There, you can perform a test from the following locations:

  • Dallas, Texas, USA
  • Melbourne, Australia
  • San Jose, California, USA
  • Stockholm, Sweden

It’s a good practice to test your site from different locations. Now, enter your URL, pick a location and click on START TEST.

The results will come within a couple of seconds. For example, I really like to see the metric which tells me if my website is faster than other tested sites.

Jellymetrics Summary

As you can see, our site is faster than 89% of tested sites. If you scroll down a bit, you will see specific recommendations.

Jellymetrics Suggestions

For example, browser caching may improve your site speed too, or reduce the number of external JavaScript files.

Google PageSpeed Insights

Another important tool for analyzing your site is Google PageSpeed Insights.

In the search box, enter your domain and click on ANALYZE.

Google Pagespeed Insights: Analyze

Within a couple of seconds, results will appear both for mobile and desktop devices.

Here’s how it looks for Mobile devices.

Google PageSpeed Insights: Mobile

And here’s how it looks for Desktop devices.

Google PageSpeed Insights:

As you could see, there are suggestions that I can accept so my site will become faster.

Again, never forget that your goal is to make your users happy and if you do that, Google will reward you.

#10 Good Uptime

Having a fast website is not enough. Your site must have a good uptime. For example, I did an experiment where I showed you how being offline affect rankings.

Period of being offline

It required 4 months and 12 days to return rankings, and keep in mind, the competition is not so high, so if your site is in a very competitive niche, you’ll definitely have lots of troubles.

Of course, your site won’t be offline for 4 months and 12 days, but however, your site needs to be online as much as possible, and here I’ll show you how to track it.

Firstly, create an account on UptimeRobot. After you do it, just log in and click on Add New Monitor.

Add new monitor

There, you need to pick a monitor type (HTTP(S), Keyword, Ping, Port). Next, you have to enter the monitor name, IP address, and monitoring interval.

Jellymetrics Monitor

Now, scroll a bit and click on Create Monitor.

 Create Monitor

The results will come, and here are some data from Jellymetrics.

Jellymetrics Uptime

We have a 100% uptime in the last 30 days which is awesome, isn’t it? You should have it too.

Conclusion

As you could see, there are so many methods that can help you in submitting your website to search engines faster.

However, one thing is for sure, you need to be patient because even if your site appears in search results, your site probably won’t rank high.

Simply said, it’s the same if rank on the 15h page, or if you don’t exist in Google. Surely, you’ll rank for branded terms, but if your brand is unknown, that won’t help you so much.

Focus on providing an outstanding user experience to your users, and everything will sort out.

Also, don’t forget blogging because the blog is still one of the best ways to increase brand awareness and of course, generate tons of leads. Good luck!
